When you will be referred to an infectious disease specialist
If your child has an infection caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites, he or she may be referred to our pediatric infectious disease physician.
An infectious disease physician will examine your child and look for symptoms and signs that may show what caused the infection. Then, depending on the diagnosis, the care team will recommend a course of specialized treatment to help your child feel better and resume normal activities.
